📣 Marketing Template
Newsletter Template
Monthly newsletter structure: header, featured content, news, CTA.
What a newsletter structure should include
- A subject line about the most useful thing inside, not about the newsletter itself
- One lead item, given most of the space
- Two or three short secondary items
- A single primary call to action
- Who you are and where you are — sender identification is a legal requirement, not a footer convention
- A working, one-click unsubscribe
- A plain-text fallback that reads properly
A consistent cadence beats an ambitious one
Monthly newsletters that actually go out monthly outperform weekly ones that appear four times a year. The unsubscribe rate rises sharply when an email arrives after a long silence, because the recipient no longer remembers signing up. Pick a frequency you can sustain in your busiest month, and set it explicitly at signup.
- Lead with the single most useful item — most people read the first block and nothing else
- One call to action; three calls to action is the same as none
- Test it in a dark-mode client before sending, where most image-heavy newsletters fall apart
List health
- Segment by engagement and stop emailing addresses that have ignored a year of sends
- Keep proof of consent for every address, as the Spam Act 2003 requires
- Watch the unsubscribe rate per send — a spike is feedback about content, not about the list
