Microsoft Leads Historic Investment
Microsoft leads the corporate commitments with a record $30 billion investment in UK AI infrastructure over four years, including construction of the country's largest AI supercomputer in partnership with British firm Nscale. The facility in Loughton, north-east London, will form a cornerstone of OpenAI's international Stargate initiative.
NVIDIA's European Rollout
NVIDIA has pledged to deploy 120,000 advanced GPUs across the UK by the end of 2026, marking the company's largest infrastructure rollout in Europe. Combined with partners including CoreWeave, the total investment in "AI factories" reaches approximately $15 billion.
Additional Investments
Google has committed $6.8 billion toward a new hyperscale data centre in Waltham Cross while continuing to fund AI research through its DeepMind laboratory. Additional investments from Salesforce, Oracle, Amazon Web Services, and BlackRock round out the package.
AI Growth Zone
A new "AI Growth Zone" will be established in the north east of England at Cobalt Park, expected to create more than 5,000 jobs and host initial deployment of the Stargate UK project. The agreement positions Britain as a major hub for AI development outside the United States.
